2 men facing charges for child porn waive arraignment

Last week, an indictment came down charging two men with child pornography crimes. On June 11, the two men waived their arraignments on those charges.

The 32- and 41-year-old men each face a count of possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of children and receiving and distributing material involving the sexual exploitation of children. Since neither man wanted to go through with their arraignments, which is when the judge reads the charges each man is facing, they are acknowledging that they are aware of and understand the charges.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation's work led to the 32-year-old man's arrest. The complaint filed with the criminal court stated that authorities allegedly found almost three dozen videos on an external hard drive and computer that showed child pornography. In addition, the FBI agent allegedly located child pornography photos on his cellphone. The videos are believed to have been downloaded from a peer-to-peer system and occurred between the beginning of February and May 5. The victims in the videos were girls and boys that were between 8 and 15 years old. The man allegedly told FBI agents that he has been looking at child porn for the last couple of years.

The 41-year-old man was arrested back in May. Allegedly, over 800 videos and images were found on a computer that depicted child pornography. That man's mother allegedly also used the computer; however, no charges were filed against his mother. Those photos and videos were reportedly downloaded between Feb. 4 and March 6.

The FBI says that both cases are still being investigated. It is not known if the men have attorneys or if bail has been set.

Charges such as these are serious and can have a vast, negative impact on one's reputation, career and social life. An experienced criminal defense attorney can provide information on how to face similar charges.
