Marine in Colorado arrested for trying to meet 14-year-old girl

| Sep 22, 2014 | Sex Crimes |

A man in Colorado has been arrested after police found that he was trying to meet up with a 14-year-old girl to have sex. They went to the hotel where he was going to meet her and arrested him. The man allegedly admitted while on camera that he had come to have sex. He also reportedly admitted that he knew that the girl was only 14 years old.

Police in Arapahoe County have a special unit that is dedicated to this type of work. They focus on Internet communications, which many people use to set up these types of meetings. Their standard operating procedure after finding something that they think is suspicious is to reach out to the older person as if he or she is a child. They will then suggest a time and place to meet.

This is what happened to the Colorado man, who was a Marine in the United States military. When he showed up at the hotel, the girl was nowhere to be found, but multiple police agents were waiting to arrest him.

After the arrest, the police said that it is usually not hard for people to try to arrange these meetings online. Through social media sites, they have many options if they want to meet children, and these sites make it easy for them to convince the children that they already know each other or that they should meet.

Anyone who has been arrested for an attempted sex crime like this needs to know that they still have a right to the full legal process and a fair trial.
