Colorado takes aim at drivers who drive while high

In Jan. of this year, Colorado passed a measure to legalize the use of marijuana for recreational purposes. Since that time, law enforcement officials around the state have ramped up efforts to identify those drivers who may be driving while high. Much like the public service campaigns waged against drinking and driving, the Colorado Department of Transportation recently kicked off the agency's "Drive-High, Get a DUI" public safety campaign.

This number represents those drivers who were arrested by police officers throughout the state for suspicion of driving under the influence of either drugs or alcohol during Super Bowl weekend.

Colorado Springs officer charged with drunk driving and tampering

A Colorado Springs police officer was recently arrested for multiple charges stemming from an incident involving a car crash last week. The Colorado Springs officer was allegedly drunk driving when he was involved in the crash. The officer has also been charged with tampering with evidence after the blood sample for his blood alcohol test went missing.

Colorado school bus driver accused of drunk driving

On Sept. 21, a school bus driver was driving a high school football team consisting of 37 students and 4 coaches to an area high school after a game. The passengers on the bus claim that the 57-year-old Colorado school bus driver was driving carelessly and hit a parked vehicle when the bus arrived at its destination. Police have accused the man of drunk driving.
