The Longmont Special Enforcement Unit arrested nine individuals in Longmont this week. The arrests were made as a part of “Operation Crystal Stiletto.” The accused persons will now have to face drug-related crimes in court.

The arrests were made by SWAT team members after police served 10 warrants. The warrants were issued across multiple areas of Colorado, including: Mead, Longmont, Evans, Fort Lupton and unincorporated Boulder. Operation Crystal Stiletto was a drug enforcement operation that police carried out for weeks in secret before making their arrest.

It is still unknown what kind of narcotics were at the root of these arrests. However, as police investigations continue, and more information is revealed, we will probably have a greater appreciation for how these arrests occurred and for what reason. Although police have yet to confirm it, there were hints that Operation Crystal Stilleto involved the investigation of a “criminal enterprise dealing in large amounts of narcotics is in operation throughout Northern Colorado.”

All nine arrested individuals will have the opportunity to defend themselves separately against the charges being brought against them. Some may choose to enter plea bargain arrangements in exchange for a reduction in punishments. Others may choose to build their legal defenses to cast doubt on the prosecution’s version of the facts. Ultimately, none of these individuals will be considered “guilty” until, and only if, they are proved to be so beyond a reasonable doubt. Were you arrested for a drug crime? A Colorado Springs criminal defense lawyer might be able to assist you in defending yourself against the charges you’re facing.
