A 55-year-old man called law enforcement in Colorado and threatened them if they tried to capture him. When the Nevada Highway Patrol did finally locate him, though, he surrendered and was arrested without incident.

The man was wanted on multiple charges in Colorado, including those for harassment, weapons violations, child abuse, first-degree criminal trespass and criminal mischief. He is currently in jail in Nevada, waiting to be extradited back to Colorado.

A trooper with the NHP saw the man on a motorcycle on Interstate 80 about 35 miles from Reno, Nevada. The trooper arrested the man without incident. There was no information given on whether the man will be given bail when he is finally back in Colorado.

The charges the man faces are serious and carry the potential for long prison sentences. When facing such charges, it’s important that defendants understand the possible penalties. Building a strong defense is necessary in order to have a possibility at mitigating those penalties.

An experienced criminal defense attorney can help by examining the facts in your case, including the police reports and any other evidence. If law enforcement did not respect your rights when the evidence was collected or when you were arrested or interviewed, some evidence may be thrown out of court or some charges could be dismissed.

In order to be found guilty, the prosecution must prove you committed the crimes beyond a reasonable doubt. If that is not done, then there is no verdict possible other than not guilty. However, if you are found guilty, you also have the right to file an appeal. Your attorney can explain all of this in greater detail.
